Mother's Day

so i had a really nice mothers day yesterday, and i hope all you moms out there did as well!

my day started with my girls at friendly's for breakfast (oh yes!), where they promised they would get along ALL day in honor of mothers day. poor things tried, but couldn't quite come through. lasted all of about 10 minutes. but it's the thought that counts right? and then we enjoyed the rest of the day puttering around the house, painting rocks and just spending some quality time together. i couldn't ask for more than that! AND they got me some GORGEOUS flowers from Studio 539 located right in Providence. it is seriously the most beautiful bouquet of flowers i have ever received. the next time you are in need of flowers, definitely give them a shout.

and because Madison forgot her mothers day card at school, i got a little extra mileage out of the occasion and received my card today. i just had to share, how sweet is this?

hope you all had a great day!

Flower Power

i love this time of year....it seems that all of a sudden, flowers are sprouting and trees are blooming, and the promise of my favorite time of year (summer) is approaching! it is not often that i take the camera out to photograph something other than people, but today i did. i photographed some pretty flowers, and flowers really do make me happy!

this next one just might be my fave. i love the light shining through!

then again, these smelled soooo good. i don't know what kind of flower this is, but i would love to have a bunch of these in my yard!

how can you not love flowers? mothers day is sunday (for those of you who may have forgotten), and moms always love flowers. but if you REALLY want to impress mom, you'll get her some flowers, AND a gift certificate form KM Photography! just sayin'.

Happy Mothers Day!

just an ordinary day....

most of you know I work from home. there are lots of benefits to working at home.....working in your pajamas (which I never do), being home for the kids (which I am) and ummm....i don't know, I'm running out of what's so great about it. come on fellow home office peeps, you know what i am talking about! i love my job because i get to go out and photograph some wonderful people, but there's lots of stuff that needs to be done on a computer, which people don't sometimes realize. and this is my typical desk and lunch.....(now don't be jealous!)

i'd love to be in office or studio working with someone....it can get pretty lonely here at the kitchen table. so i am announcing my goal.....i'd love to be an office or studio by....well.....when the right opportunity comes along. Until then....I guess this will have to do. and if you hear of an opportunity - give this macaroni and cheese eating girl a shout......

and because i think blogs are so much better when they include an great photo:

from a recent first communion session...super sweet!

i'm back!

so it has been forever since i have blogged, and really i wish i had a good excuse. but i got nothing. i just fell off the blogger map. and honestly, now that i am sitting here actually typing one, i realize i have missed it. so here i am, baby! i'm back! and i am bringing to you something great in this blog, since you have been long-awaiting it. i can think of nothing better to show you than some truly adorable children!

i am pretty sure i have said before that i sometimes favor the out-takes, because well, it shows true personality.....and this would be one of those times. the reaction this little guy has to his sister's kiss? LOVE it.

a little bit of silliness never hurt anyone.

same goes for a little bit of tickling.

and my fave of the day:

these two were so much fun. how could i not love this job?
so like i promised, a couple of cute kids. and one last promise....more blogs to come!

a little magic.....

I can finally share with you some images from a holiday session I did for a friend. The photos were under wraps for a while until all her holiday cards had been sent out, but I finally can share them! But before I do, I need to set the story up a bit.

My friend has two children, who are MY children's best friends. My friend had this image in her head of what she wanted, her son dressed up all handsome with a top hat holding a magic wand. Her daughter would be in a beautiful dress, holding a fairy wand. We would set it up to look like they were putting spells on each other. She wanted her holiday card to read: Have a magical holiday! Sounds like a great idea!!!

Now, here are the children:

super handsome all dressed up. But there is a hint of mischief in this boy's grin, wouldn't you say?

And below, the beautiful sister, glowing with beauty.

and I explained to the kiddos the concept of using their wands on each other, but I think the brother had some ideas of his own.....

i have laughed and laughed over this photo. and so did my friend, who by the way ended up using this photo for her greeting card.

In fact, I am still laughing about this photo!

but to show that these two CAN pose all nicey-nice, i wanted to add this one too:

awwwww......

new year, new teeth!

what a big week we had.....not only did we celebrate christmas and new year's, but we lost teeth on both christmas day and new year's day! and yes, one of them for a moment or two we thought brooke may have swallowed (again!) but we found it on the floor, thank goodness! and now, take a look at the new brooke:

is she not the cutest thing ever????

and because brooke wasn't quite feeling camera ready, some of the out-takes were pretty cute too and i thought i'd share some:

now we wait the arrival of the new pearly whites. :)

holiday wishes

today we put away christmas.....we took down the tree, found homes for the last few new toys strewn on the floor, and took down the decorations. normally, i am glad to get my house back. but this year, i felt a little sad that it was all over. christmas is so exciting for the kids, and as my girls are getting older, i don't know that i have so many left with that high a level of enthusiasm.

so after all the work was done with putting all that stuff away, i thought it would be good to download the pics i took on christmas eve of the kids opening some of their gifts from my mom and dad. i didn't photograph our actual christmas morning, but i captured these treasures on christmas eve. and after looking at them today, boy am i glad i did:

this first photo was quite torturous for them. i made them sit amongst all these gifts so i could take their photo, and all they really wanted to do was rip into them!

"yay! Lets start!!!"

oh the joy!

such happiness!

how can you not love this?

from our family to yours.....have a safe and happy new year!
