a holiday wish

This is a different post. You will find no photos...just something from me. If you were looking for photos in this one, look no further. All there is here is a blurb from a girl with a heavy heart.

The holidays are upon us and for most of us, that is a joyous time. But for some, the road can be difficult. And for this group, in which I am amongst, we try to hold our head high, plaster on a smile and tell everyone it is ok. And most of the time, we will get through the day, as much of a struggle it may be, and our heads will hit the pillow at night, and we pray to anyone who is listening that maybe tomorrow will be better.

There are people we have known our whole lives who we realize we didn't really know at all, and people who we just meet who we feel like we have been connected to for ever. There are people who you never thought would be there for you in your time of need, who shine like stars, and of course, those who don't.

This is the time of year where we hear holiday wish lists...holiday lists that include clothes, jewelry, trips even.....mine is so much simpler. It would be something like I song I heard once, maybe I'd ask for a rose, or a call from work, or someone to open a door for me.... because sometimes its the little things that can bring so much happiness.

I wish all of you a happy healthy holiday season, but for those of you especially who this time of year may be a bit difficult, my holiday wish is that maybe it won't be so hard to put on that smile, and maybe you might get a rose for the holiday.

a little magic.....

I can finally share with you some images from a holiday session I did for a friend. The photos were under wraps for a while until all her holiday cards had been sent out, but I finally can share them! But before I do, I need to set the story up a bit.

My friend has two children, who are MY children's best friends. My friend had this image in her head of what she wanted, her son dressed up all handsome with a top hat holding a magic wand. Her daughter would be in a beautiful dress, holding a fairy wand. We would set it up to look like they were putting spells on each other. She wanted her holiday card to read: Have a magical holiday! Sounds like a great idea!!!

Now, here are the children:

super handsome all dressed up. But there is a hint of mischief in this boy's grin, wouldn't you say?

And below, the beautiful sister, glowing with beauty.

and I explained to the kiddos the concept of using their wands on each other, but I think the brother had some ideas of his own.....

i have laughed and laughed over this photo. and so did my friend, who by the way ended up using this photo for her greeting card.

In fact, I am still laughing about this photo!

but to show that these two CAN pose all nicey-nice, i wanted to add this one too:

awwwww......

holiday wishes

today we put away christmas.....we took down the tree, found homes for the last few new toys strewn on the floor, and took down the decorations. normally, i am glad to get my house back. but this year, i felt a little sad that it was all over. christmas is so exciting for the kids, and as my girls are getting older, i don't know that i have so many left with that high a level of enthusiasm.

so after all the work was done with putting all that stuff away, i thought it would be good to download the pics i took on christmas eve of the kids opening some of their gifts from my mom and dad. i didn't photograph our actual christmas morning, but i captured these treasures on christmas eve. and after looking at them today, boy am i glad i did:

this first photo was quite torturous for them. i made them sit amongst all these gifts so i could take their photo, and all they really wanted to do was rip into them!

"yay! Lets start!!!"

oh the joy!

such happiness!

how can you not love this?

from our family to yours.....have a safe and happy new year!

Holiday Rush

It has been insanely busy here at KM Photography, which is why I haven't blogged in a while. I have been up to my eyeballs in editing, and haven't had a weekend to myself in who knows how long. But its okay because I know pretty soon, there will be smiles on the faces of many who start receiving holiday cards of some really cute kids photographed by yours truly. And on Christmas, smiles a plenty when moms, grandmoms, aunties and more receive beautiful photos of their loved ones. And if you are reading this thinking, "oh no, I didn't get my photo session done in time for the holidays!!" I have this to say:

It's ok. You don't need a holiday to book a session. That's the beauty of photos. You can take them whenever. And people love to receive them anytime, not just during special occasions.

And....just because you may not have photographs to give as a gift, a gift card from KM Photography is a great way to go. Wouldn't mom/grandma/or insert other name here be so excited to know that she can have a family portrait done at the time of her choosing????

I hope you all enjoy the next few weeks of holiday shopping and planning. It's easy to get stressed and caught up in the hectic bustle. But I'm going to try to enjoy it, and I hope you all do. And because blogs are so much better with a photo:

a little holiday tip: photo taken at Bass Pro Shops in Foxboro, where not only do they give you a free photo with santa, but their packages won't break the bank. Or, even better, they let you take your own photo like I did. How awesome is that?????
