Flower Power

i love this time of year....it seems that all of a sudden, flowers are sprouting and trees are blooming, and the promise of my favorite time of year (summer) is approaching! it is not often that i take the camera out to photograph something other than people, but today i did. i photographed some pretty flowers, and flowers really do make me happy!

this next one just might be my fave. i love the light shining through!

then again, these smelled soooo good. i don't know what kind of flower this is, but i would love to have a bunch of these in my yard!

how can you not love flowers? mothers day is sunday (for those of you who may have forgotten), and moms always love flowers. but if you REALLY want to impress mom, you'll get her some flowers, AND a gift certificate form KM Photography! just sayin'.

Happy Mothers Day!

miss alanna!

i don't really ever miss our first house, but i do miss our neighbors. shortly after we moved into the first house, (many years ago) we watched as our then- teenaged neighbor, alanna, was picked up in a limo and was whisked off to her prom. she would poke her head in our windows in the morning to say hello (and scare the be-jeezus out of us) as she headed out to college class. She babysat our daughters, and talked us into letting Madison partake in an acting class that she was teaching. we don't miss our house, but we sure do miss alanna and her family.

when i decided to do a special photo session, i knew this would be right up alanna's alley. and boy did she come thru for me. alanna is beautiful and funny and she's certainly up for anything. tresspassing on private property?....oh yeah, she's in. climbing up on a tractor? sure, no sweat. thanks to my willing model, these photos are all levels of great.....

she'll tell you she does "goofy" so well, but she also does beautiful exceptionally.
see?

i really, really love this one.

madison came along with us for this shoot, and I don't remember what she said, but it definitely cracked miss alanna up with great results. kudos madison!

how cute is this next one?

ok, so the next one i also love....there is such a beauty about this one....

and this series is so fun. the whole time we were doing this, madison was in the background impatiently waiting to find out what this magnificent puffy thing was that we had come across. and of course, waiting impatiently to get her hands on some.

you know we had to give her a handful.

there just are not words to describe how much i love this one. alanna is gorgeous!

and boy we had some fun!

these boots were alanna's idea, and it was fantastic.

lastly, another favorite.
so i am calling this photo session a success. we definitely had fun, we broke some rules, we may have even fed some goats a potato....(did I forget to mention that?)

alanna, what can i say....you did amazing! thank you!!!!

a moment between sisters

so i was outside on this beautiful day, sitting in my new adirondack chair whilst my girls were outside playing (yes, i know, sounds like i live such a lah-dee-dah life) when i realized something was amiss. what was it? well, there was no yelling going on, no tattle tale-ing, crying, incessant whining, endless begging for a snack. just the sound of two girls getting along, chatting quietly amongst each other. I look up and this is what i see:

now, this is a rarity. it may not look like much to you, but it is definitely a sight that warms my heart. i don't know what they were chatting about, but i do know they are enjoying each other's company. and this one tiny moment, in my mind anyway, makes up for all the ridiculous fights they have. this moment's a keeper.

oh these Summer Days.....

i love that i work from home, but it can be so difficult sometimes. i have photo orders to place, wedding photos to retouch....and all the while i have two kids running around the house on summer vacation who need to be fed, cleaned, entertained. trying to balance it all is a challenge. who wants to stay in the house and work on that stuff when this is going on outside? (it's no wonder i am awake and working till 11pm most nights!)

i love this one. goggles AND pinching the nose....doesn't get any more adorable.

and these little guys are just hanging out in a nest underneath a window in the back of our house, waiting around for their mommy-bird to bring them something good to eat. Sounds familiar.

hope your enjoying these summer days as much as i am....they sure are going by fast!
